A total of 35 horses are in line to be this season’s Cheltenham Gold Cup Champion, including the first five home in last season’s renewal. Defending Champ Lord Windermere is set to renew rivalry with On His Own, The Giant Bolster, Silviniaco Conti and 2013 Champ Bobs Worth and they will be joined by a whole host of new challengers to the crown.

Last year’s runner-up, On His Own is one of five representatives for Champion Irish trainer Willie Mullins. Last year’s RSA fourth, Ballcasey, Punchestown Gold Cup winner Boston Bob, two time festival winner Champagne Fever and Djakadam are also in line to represent the Closutton team.
The Irish raiding contingent will also include the Noel Meade trained Road To Riches. This season’s Lexus Chase winner, is currently second best in the ante-post market at a general price of 8/1. The John Kiely trained Carlingford Lough and Gordon Elliott’s Don Cossack are also in contention to cross the Irish Sea in March.
