Ainippe takes Group 3 at Fairyhouse

Up in trip proved no problem for the Ger Lyon’s trained filly Ainippe who landed the Group 3 Brownstown Stakes at Fairyhouse this afternoon in good style under a smart ride from Colin Keane.

Sent off a 3/1 second favourite Keane sent Ainippe to the front just after the furlong pole and held off Majestic Queen for Tracey Collins and James Doyle ( 1/1f ) for a comfortable victory by a lenght and a half.

Slipper Orchid ran well in third as did Queen Nefertiti and they shared the place spot with a dead heat.

Ainippe may now bid to take her good form, a winner in the Group 3 Ballygowan Stakes at the Curragh and now a further Group 3 win on her CV to Doncaster with the Group 2 Park Stakes a likely target.

“She’s a little diamond to have in the yard. I never thought she was just a five or six furlongs horse. She has proper natural speed, and this is the first time we have had to step her up in trip. She was off her feet early doors but she tries her heart out and gives you everything. I brought her here to see what she would be like.

“If she stays in training next year she could step up to a mile and aim for something like the Matron Stakes. I’m not sure where she will go next, the Group 2 Park Stakes at Doncaster could be a possibility.” Ger Lyons.
