Australia and Kingston Hill set for The Curragh
This weekend it is the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby on Saturday evening where the Epsom Derby first and second are all set to fight it out again in round two. Australia and Kingston Hill seem almost certain to meet now with the field narrowing as the race draws closer.
Godolphin have removed True Story who was originally expected to line up and now seven remain, headed by the Epsom one, two but also includes four others than ran in the Derby behind them just under three weeks ago.
Aidan O’Brien has won seven renewals of this race in the last eight years and ten in total; Jim Bolger ending a remarkable sequence last year when his Trading Leather took the classic contest. This year O’Brien will have his star Australia plus Orchestra, Geoffrey Chaucer and Kingfisher in a bid for an 11th success.
The bookmakers make it all about Australia currently a 4/11 fav with Kingston Hill around the 4/1 marker to gain revenge. Connections of Kingston Hill will be happy to see some rain fall in the area over the last 24 hours but the track are keeping everyone up to date on their twitter accounts and the general manager Paul Hensey reported only 3mm overnight. The forecast is for 7 or 8mm more before Saturday with conditions expected to be mostly dry.
