6.10 – Breeders Cup Filly And Mare Turf
Newmarket 1000 Guineas winner Legatissimo has been a superstar for connections this season and will look to sign off in style with victory in the Filly And Mare Turf. This nine furlong trip should be ideal for her and if the exertions of a long season don’t catch up with her she is very much the filly to beat. She will have to get the better of the 2014 1000 Guineas winner Miss France but she is yet to get her head in front yet this season and perhaps a bigger danger will be Queen’s Jewel representing Freddie Head.
7.30 – Breeders Cup Mile
A race that French horses in particular have a good record in; the Breeders Cup Mile looks like it may be heading to France again. Last year’s winner Karakontie leads the challenge but will have to take on French 2000 Guineas winner Make Believe. Estoterique is another classy animal that has the ability to win this while British hopes will ride on Royal Ascot winner Time Test and Mondaliste.
8.10 – Breeders Cup Juvenile
A race that Aidan O’Brien famously won with Johannesburg, he will rely on Waterloo Bridge in this year’s renewal. A winner of the Norfolk at Royal Ascot he has plenty of speed which will be useful here but this will be his first experience of a dirt surface. If he can produce his best he should be competitive but this is a very tough test for a young horse.
8.50 – Breeders Cup Turf
Derby and Arc hero Golden Horn will be asked to go to the well one last time in the Breeders Cup Turf. He has proved himself tactically versatile this season which may prove to be a huge asset here but his recent tendency to run around in the closing stages is a major worry in this stricter jurisdiction. He has got the better of Found on his last two starts but this sharper track may suit the smaller filly and he wouldn’t be a certainty to confirm that superiority here. Found is a high class filly but is struggling to get the better of the colts this season, this may be her best chance to date.
9.35 – Breeders Cup Classic
A race that has eluded Ballydoyle despite sending stable superstars on many occasions. They went closest with Giants Causeway when he was beaten a head by Tiznow in 2000. This year they turn to dual Guineas winner Gleneagles who interestingly is out of a half-sister to Giants Causeway. He has a definite preference for a fast surface and was all at sea on soft ground when well beaten at Ascot last time. He clearly has a huge amount of talent but his ability to handle this dirt surface has to be seriously questioned particularly looking through his sire line.
