Curragh-based trainer Dermot Weld on weather watch ahead of Irish Champions Weekend
TRAINER Dermot Weld is on a “weather watch” regarding his runners over next weekend’s Irish Champions Weekend taking place at Leopardstown and
Weld, who has had a tremendous season thus far, said that most of his horses needed a cut in the ground to be seen at their best.
Forgotten Rules and Pale Mimosa are Weld’s two big runners in the Group One Palmerstown House Estate Irish St Leger at the Curragh on Sunday, 14th
Speaking recently the Curragh-based trainer said; “Forgotten Rules and Pale Mimosa are in great form but they both need a cut in the ground.
The same can be said of Carla Bianca who holds an engagement in the Group Two Moyglare “Jewels” Blandford Stakes on the same afternoon. The weather
seems set fair for the coming days so we will wait and see for the moment and make a final decision about all our horses later next week.”
Weld also has Alveena and Zannda in the Group One Moyglare Stud Stakes and Tombelaine in the Group One Goffs Vincent O’Brien National Stakes.
Irish Champions Weekend will take place in Leopardstown on Saturday 13th September 2014 and at the Curragh on Sunday 14th September. It will be a
amazing sporting and social event combining history, spectacle, glamour, excitement and prestige. The Weekend will be action packed with the focus on
showcasing Ireland as a world centre of excellence for horse racing and breeding.
