Cyclone ready to rip through Punchestown
Trainer Shark Hanlon is upbeat about Hidden Cyclone’s participation in the Grade 1 Boylesports Champion Chase at Punchestown on Tuesday at 5.30pm.
Speaking to ATR the trainer said “I just don’t seem to be able to find a Grade One for him to win so hopefully tomorrow will be his day. I was never convinced Vautour was going to run as Willie himself has a rule he never runs novices out of novice company, I’d say he was just trying to keep the rest out of it.”
“Two years ago Andrew (McNamara) said when he hit the front in the Ryanair he just looked up at the crowd, it’s not that he’s ungenuine but in a Grade One you need everything going for you. He cut a leg at Cheltenham, we’re lucky to have him back as when he came back in there was blood everywhere. Thankfully, there was no damage to the tendon.”
Davy Russell returns to the saddle following injury and will get the leg up on Mallowney for trainer Tom Doyle and having skipped the Festivals in the UK they will be hoping for a big run from the Grade 2 winner this season.
It will be great to see Sizing Europe once again as the veteran takes his chance for Henry De Bromhead and also in the field are the Tony Martin handled pair of Flemenstar and Savello whilst Mouse Morris saddles Baily Green and Oscar Hill lines up for trainer David Bridgewater.
Willie Mullins saddles three and Champagne Fever the leading hope of those looks set to go off favoruite under Ruby Walsh who now leads the way in the jockeys championship in Ireland. Champagne Fever hasn’t had things go his way this term but could be the one to beat whilst Twinlight can be quirky on the track and Paul Townend takes the ride and Felix Yonger completes the Champion Trainers trio.
Champagne Fever 2/1, Hidden Cyclone 7/2, Twinlight 6/1, Felix Yonger 6/1, Mallowney 13/2, Sizing Europe 12/1 , Flemenstar 16/1, Savello20/1, Baily Green 33/1, Oscar Hill 33/1 – Have Treble The Odds with 888sport.com
