Epsom is ready….
It was a warm and dry final day of preparations at Epsom Racecourse as the build up to tomorrows Investec Oaks and Saturday’s Investec Derby reached the final stages.
A weather warning was the big news of the previous 24 hours with torrential rain, thunder and lightning due in the area for Saturday but tomorrow should remain dry and fair with clerk of the course, Andrew Cooper suggested the meeting could start on Good ground with only an odd shower due in the later hours of Friday.
It will go “downhill” from there on Saturday though according to the Met Office, with the weather warning still in place and all eyes will be on the skies come Friday evening for the connections of the Derby runners due to line up for the showpiece.
Marvellous, seen here winning the 1000 Guineas at the Curragh, heads the betting for the Investec Oaks tomorrow, the race due off at 4.00pm
Australia is the one to beat in the Investec Derby on Saturday and has always been held in the highest regard by trainer Aidan O’Brien, connections will be hoping it doesn’t get too wet at the track between now and the race.
