Fallon bags Godolphin gig

2000 Guineas hero Kieren Fallon can look forward to this season with some excitement, after Godolphin trainer Saeed bin Suroor confirmed that the veteran is to become his joint stable jockey along with Silvestre de Sousa.
Fallon, a six time champion jockey, rode a number of winners for the bin Suroor/Godolphin combo at the Dubai Carnival earlier in the year, performances that have urged the boys in blue to use him more often, starting with Investec Derby second favourite True Story in next week’s Betfred Dante Stakes.
Bin Suroor told www.godolphin.com: “We enjoyed using Kieren Fallon in Dubai earlier this year, both as a jockey and a work rider. He came to Al Quoz and exercised the horses every morning as well as recording major wins at Meydan on Prince Bishop and Excellent Result.
“Kieren is a world-class jockey, who has recorded many Group One victories, and we would like to continue using him. He rode True Story in his work on Saturday morning and we have decided that he will partner the colt in the Betfred Dante Stakes.
“We hope to be well-represented at all of the major British meetings this year and Kieren will ride for us along with Silvestre de Sousa.
“Both jockeys are integral members of our team and we are looking forward to another successful European campaign.”
A delighted Fallon added: “It’s fantastic for me. They have a lot of very good horses, including a large number of two-year-olds. There’s so much racing now at the weekends with big races clashing that there will be plenty of good rides for both of us.
“Saeed has always been good with me and I’ve been lucky to ride good horses for Godolphin. They rescued me after my worst season in Britain last year and since then I’ve had a great time with them in Dubai, where Saeed was champion trainer.”
