Guineas fancy Faydhan out for the season
Leading Guineas fancy Faydhan has been ruled out for the rest of the season having had a setback. John Gosden’s charge had been battling for favouritism for next year’s Classic with the likes of Ivawood and Highland Reel but has been eased in the market following news of his setback and is now available at around 12/1.
The War Front colt shot on to the scene with a devastating 6 length victory at Haydock in July, doing so despite being very green early on. Gosden’s charge, who cost owner Hamdan Al Maktoum half a million dollars when bought from the Keeneland Sales last year, had been entered up for many of the big 2yo races later in the season but is now set for a spell on the sidelines as Sheikh Hamdan’s racing manager, Angus Gold confirmed:
“Hopefully it’s nothing major, just bad timing. We’re trying to find out how serious it is. He’s definitely had a setback and he won’t run for a while.
“It’s a leg injury, but hopefully nothing major. It’s just going to hold him up for a while, quite possibly for the rest of the season.”
