Hint Of A Tint lands Mile
A super training performance to bring Hint Of A Tint back to the track after 284 days away by David Wachman and a pitch perfect ride from Wayne Lordan was more than enough to land a competitive Topaz Mile at Galway this evening.
Returned at 6/1 having been well backed from double figures for the feature during the day Hint Of A Tint proved strongest in the finish to hold off Brian Ellison’s Baraweez and a fast finishing Unsinkable back in third. They finished a good bit clear of the remainder and brought the crowd a super finish to the mile contest.
“Wayne gave her a great ride. They went a good gallop and Wayne is very strong when he gets into a finish. She was tough and she was genuine today. They stopped in front of her and she battled well at the line.” said Wachman.
“She was a good two-year-old and a good three-year-old and she lost her way a bit. She’s best fresh, that’s her first run of the season so we took a chance at the start of the season and said we’d aim her at this. She was second in a Guineas Trial so is Group Three placed it’s possible that she could go back into pattern company.”
Everything went right to plan for Lordan who picked up the ride from Fran Berry once the weights were made clear.
“She’s a filly that had talent before. She ran well in this race last year. She has dropped in the weights a good bit and she had been working nicely. David took her slow, that’s why he never ran her all year. She travelled around and picked up well and went to the line well. “
