The Irish Angle- Tipperary/Dundalk
A Mixed card at Tipperary today and Simenon has another crack over hurdles in the feature Grade 3 Kevin McManus Bookmaker Grimes Hurdle.
A top class stayer on the flat, he has been ambitiously campaigned at the highest level and hasn’t been in the same form over timber, 2 miles could be on the sharp side and at the prices it might pay to look at Darwins Fox and Sailors Warn who renew rivalry.
There is also high class flat action as the speedballs take centre stage in the Excelebration Tipperary Stakes over the minimum trip of 5 furlongs. Coto is likely to set a scorching gallop and at 7/1 the Johnny Murtagh trained Arriana looks the each way bet of the race with the dead eight runners. The short price favourite Accepted demands plenty of respect for Tommy Stack but Arriana might just have too much toe having shown plenty of pace when winning at Bellewstown last time.
At Dundalk the gambled on Bogha Baisti looks worth following under the Champion Apprentice Connor King. This filly has shown a modest level of form but off the basement mark of 47 she looks capable of winning a race of this nature. The 10/1 available looks great value in a run of the mill handicap.
In the penultimate race Richard Brazons Flowing Air makes appeal after a fine effort in maiden company last time. The worry is the draw in stall 11 but Pat Smullen should be able to get this filly to the front and the 6/1 looks appetising.
