Jack Hobbs warms up for France
Harder tests to come for Irish Derby winner Jack Hobbs who galloped away with the Group 3 September Stakes at Kempton this afternoon for trainer John Gosden under jockey William Buick.
All roads will now lead to Longchamp for a tilt at the Arc and although today will not have enhanced his form credentials it was a pleasing outing and confirmed his well being after a break since the demolition at The Curragh.
Trainer John Gosden was pleased all had gone to plan. “I hadn’t done a lot of work with him and he was fresh down to the start, but in the race William managed to switch him off and get him relaxed. There’s no reason why we won’t go to France and he has won well today.
“We were happy to get a nice prep race at home, rather than travelling over to France and then travelling over again. I think he is an improving horse and like his father he will get better at four and five, there is no reason he won’t improve with age.”
