Jezki to miss season
Leading World Hurdle contender for 2016 and former Champion Hurdler Jezki will miss the season according to trainer Jessica Harrington.
The JP McManus hurdler had a long season last year and although losing at the Cheltenham Festival had marked many peoples cards as a likely winner there next March over the longer distance of the World Hurdle. However having returned to the Commonstown Stables in Moone, Co Kildare after a summer break Harrington revealed some “heat” was found in the leg on Thursday morning.
Harrington “It’s hard to stomach but it’s one of those things. Unfortunately he is out for the season…”
A division that perhaps lacks a star and strength in depth looks weak on the ground now for the start of the season proper with current World Hurdle champion Cole Harden dependent on ground conditions to take in intended enagagements, Zarkandar almost certainly not to race until the Festival and so we might see some new talent emerge early in the winter months.
