Red Hot Dual At Naas – Sunday
Today at Naas a cracking set to will take place between exciting novices Tell Us More for Willie Mullins and Free Expression for Gordon Elliott.
Two trainers enjoying great success this season will test the credentials of their unbeaten geldings at 1.30pm in the Grade 1 Lawlor’s Hotel Novice Hurdle over 2m4f on soft ground and very much the highlight for racing fans this afternoon.
Tell Us More was mighty impressive landing a maiden a Gowran Park following a Point victory and a bumper victory also at Gowran last March. This is a far sterner test but sitting at the top of the market for the Neptune at Cheltenham then plenty more can be expected from the Gigginstown charge.
Bryan Cooper has the ride of course and has been celebrating several Grade One successes for the Gigginstown Stud camp over the Christmas period and will be confident in his mount being good enough to continue that streak.
He told the Racing Post “It’s a big step up as he’s only won a maiden hurdle but I just hope he lives up to the hype.
“I couldn’t have been more impressed with him at Gowran Park and he gave me a lovely feel. The ground and track should be fine for him and I’m really looking forward to the ride. It’s a good race and Free Expression has looked pretty smart so far.”
Standing in their way is Gordon Elliott’s Free Expression whom AP McCoy is over to ride for boss JP McManus and this 6 year old has course form and a Grade 2 success to his name already and is unbeaten in three starts under rules. It will be the first time the champ has ridden him and expectations will also be very high for him this afternoon.
At their respective prices for the Neptune you might expect Tell Us More ( 7/1 ) to have too much for Free Expression ( 16/1 ) but today will reveal a lot about their futures and the field of 7 also contains two other Gigginstown runners, Noel Meade’s Couleur France and Ted Walsh’s On Impulse whilst Golden Boot completes the field for a fascinating race.
Hear it live on RacingFM at 1.30pm this afternoon….
