Romsdal added to Derby mix
John Gosden’s Romsdal was supplemented for next weekend’s Investec Derby, meaning that there will be a maximum field of 17 for the big race at Epsom on Saturday. Gosden’s charge, runner up in the Chester Vase has been supplemented at a cost of £75,000 to connections, joining stable-mate Western Hymn in the final declarations.
Romsdal’s Chester Vase conqueror Orchestra is one of four possible runners for Aidan O’Brien, who is also responsible for current market leader and the highly touted Australia, as well as Geoffrey Chaucer and Kingfisher.
Godolphin are represented in the final decs by Dante 3rd True Story, Sudden Wonder and Pinzolo, with neither of the three being partnered by Silvestre de Sousa who will instead take the ride on the William Haggas trained Our Channel.
Last season’s Racing Post Trophy winner Kingston Hill will again have Andrea Atzeni for company, with the field being completed by Sir Michael Stoute’s Snow Sky, Peter Chapple-Hyam’s Arod, John Oxx’s Ebanoran, Andrew Balding’s Impulsive Moment and Ed Dunlop’s Red Galileo.
