Scoop 6 keeps on rolling!
By Dean Ryan
It was just short of £7.5m for the combined win and bonus pools if you had managed to land the Scoop 6 this afternoon but it was not to be for punters and syndicate players as Ballyglasheen wore down more fancied rivals Barizan and Vibrato Valtat in the Swinton Hurdle ( leg 5 ) at Haydock.
Evan William’s charge was the only runner in the race that wasn’t carrying a Scoop 6 ticket on his back and so it was with his determined run in the final yards of the straight that attentions moved immediately to next Saturday and a possible split of races between Newbury and Newmarket.
There had been plenty of uttering when the race selections had been made this week suggesting that the organisers were making it as difficult as possible whilst also selecting from races not covered on terrestrial television. Whatever your take on that issue it is another rollover and with the combined pools expected to reach approximately £10m next week, the build up begins now.
This latest rollover follows agony last weekend for the only punter to make it all the way through to the final leg. He has since confirmed he wasn’t even aware of his possible windfall until much later when checking teletext for the results, missing any opportunity to hedge his possible new found wealth! There may be interesting markets for the final leg of next weeks Scoop if the remaining ticket holders are looking to secure positions.
Should be fun…..
