Silk Sari strolls to Park Hill success
Silk Sari put in a special performance to take the Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster for Luca Cumani and Andrea Atzeni. The 4yo, a Listed winner at Newbury last time, made light work of a talented bunch of fillies in the Group 2 contest, shooting clear in the closing stages to score by an impressive 5 lengths.
Cumani’s charge cruised into contention having followed the pace being set by Cascading and it was just a matter of when Atzeni, who cut a confident figure, pressed the button to go. He would kick for home at the furlong pole and easily went clear of 40/1 shot Groovejet, with Criteria back in third.
A somewhat shocked Cumani said: “I must say I’m surprised.
“I thought she would run well – she’s been in excellent form – but winning like that was unexpected.
“There’s a mile and five Group race (Prix de Royallieu) on Arc weekend for fillies, she might go for that.
“She’s been great for the family, it’s a great success.
“After that she’s going to Dubawi, the bloodlines will suit, as well as attitudes and racing style.”
Atzeni was also pleasantly surprised by the ease of victory, adding: “She travelled beautifully in behind.
“They went a nice gallop which suited her.
“I thought she’d run well but I didn’t think she’d win that well.”
