Sole Power Weather Watch
Trainer Eddie Lynam will play a waiting game with star sprinter Sole Power due to run this weekend at either Haydock in the Temple Stakes or a rare appearance in Ireland at the Curragh for the Greenland Stakes which is now a Group 2 contest.
All will depend on the weather that hits the area at each course as we run towards the weekend.
Reported in the Irish Times the trainer stated. “He’ll go wherever the ground comes up OK for him.”
“Basically it’s all about the King’s Stand with him, but like all of us as he’s getting older he’s getting heavier between his races so I’d like to get a run into him. If we get a win into him on the way to the Kings Stand, then great, but we’re ultimately looking at Ascot.”
“If the ground is OK I wouldn’t mind running him at the Curragh and we know Richard Hughes will be there so there wouldn’t be a problem in terms of a jockey. We’ll simply have to see about ground.”
Richard Hughes has become essential to Sole Power, a horse that needs the perfect hold up ride to fire and come late on the scene with his trademark change of pace that sets him apart from his rivals. Not seen in Ireland since 2011 it would great for the Irish public to see him charge up the straight on home soil.
