Speculative Bid is top of the pile at Ascot
It was last to first and a rare rattle down the centre of the Ascot straight that saw Jamie Spencer bring Speculative Bid to the front and career away with the cavalry charge Victoria Cup at Ascot this afternoon.
David Elsworth’s charge was eating up the ground with ease and ran all the way to the line to record an impressive win from Lincoln in second place whilst Hawkeyethenoo, winner in 2011, was third best and Buckstay back in fourth. Jamie Spencer was delighted afterwards. “He’s a joy to ride and I’m sure there’s more improvement in him. We’ll see where that takes him.”
Agent Murphy looks to have a big season ahead after running away with the Lsited contest on the card at 2.35pm under Jimmy Fortune for trainer Brian Meehan whilst Temptress spearheaded a great day for James Doyle who rode three winners on the card.
Roger Charlton’s inmate was only pushed out to win well in the fillies handicap at 3.10pm with Doyle also victorious on Penhill in the opener for Luca Cumani and Steady Pace for Godolphin and Saeed Bin Suroor, impressive in the maiden at 4.20pm.
