Taghrooda set for Yorkshire stroll
The unbeaten Taghrooda will take in the Yorkshire Oaks at York’s Ebor festival before heading for the ‘Arc’. The brilliant daughter of Sea The Stars was last since romping home in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot, where she easily put her older rivals of the opposite sex to the sword with a devastating performance.
She is now set to take on older fillies and mares in York’s Group 1 on the 21st of this month, putting her unbeaten record four wins from four starts on the line. Trained by John Gosden, Taghrooda has been one of the stand out performers of the season and it is hard to envisage anything being good enough at York to stop her dominance.
The Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe remains her main target of the season, before retiring from action and heading for the breeding barn. Richard Hills, assistant racing manager to owner Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum, said that connections are keen to strike when the iron is hot.
He said: “Taghrooda has been great since Ascot and the plan is to head to the Yorkshire Oaks.”
“She has only had four career starts so it makes sense to keep her going and this race looks ideal.
“I was very impressed with her performance at Ascot. She has done everything we have asked of her.”
