It’s a day to let down the stirrups on RacingFM today, with National Hunt Racing all around. Southwell, Carlisle, Thurles and Ludlow will provide us with the jumps action in the afternoon and of course we will get our all-weather fix this evening from Kempton.
Southwell starts the day at 1.30 with a 3 mile Handicap Chase and will end with two divisions of a bumper which include some very interesting newcomers. Over at Ludlow we have plenty of action to get our teeth into and the most interesting race must be the 2 mile Handicap Chase at 3.10, where the talented pair of Prima Porta and Uriah Heep will go head to head.
The former has made a good start to his chasing career, winning at this track on his debut back in March. His reappearance run at Chepstow last time ended with a hefty fall, so you might be worried about his confidence and about the fact that he steps back in trip which may not be ideal.
Uriah Heep was a very talented hurdler last season, reaching a highest rating of 128 at one stage. He makes his debut over the larger obstacles today for the in form Alan King team and if taking to fences, will prove to be no pushover.
Over in Ireland, Thurles opens its doors for the first time this season and has attracted some decent entries for the seven race card. The highlight on the day is the Premier County Hurdle at 4.25 where the veteran He’llberemembred returns to defend the race he won twelve months ago. Now at the age of 11, he has shown that he still has a love for the game recently and arrives here after a great effort in the Irish Cesarewitch last time.
His main rival today should prove to be Gordon Elliot’s Moonshine Lad, with outsiders Keep On Track and Ordinary Man completing the four runner field.

Carlisle – Soft, good to soft in places. First race 2.20
