Today’s Action: Yulong can record Listed success

YEOMANSTOWN & MORRISTOWN LATTIN STUDS EUROPEAN BREEDERS FUND STAKES (Listed Race) (Fillies & Mares)

Today’s feature race comes from Naas at 7.30 and it may finally be time for Ed Lynam’s YULONG BAOJU to record a much deserved Listed success. The 4yo Acclamation filly is as consistent as they come and you can never doubt her attitude as she sticks her head down and battles for every yard whenever seen on a racecourse.

She also holds a wicked turn of foot, as seen when bolting up over course and distance two starts ago, and although she makes a quick reappearance after a decent performance in the competitive Rockingham Handicap at the Curragh last weekend, she has the toughness to deal with the quick turnaround.

Tobann sets the standard having recorded victory at Group 3 level at Fairyhouse last time but giving 5lbs and more to her rivals will not be easy, especially as this drop in trip is far from sure to suit. Yulong Baoju’s stablemate Gathering Power is another obvious danger given her performances this season, but she may well have preferred more of a cut in the ground.

Last year’s race went the way of British raider Miss Lahar and this year the raider comes in the form of Rae Guest’s consistent Minalisa, whose performance in Listed company at Salisbury last time, gives her strong claims here. Of the outsiders, Sea Of Wells deserves a mention. John Oxx’s 3yo should be much more suited by this trip and has plenty of potential for progression, particularly receiving the weight for age allowance.
