Today’s Info 10th July 2015
We skipped the opening day of the July meeting yesterday and that may have proved wise, the results included plenty of shocks and we we will see what today brings to the table.
Lucida should take the Falmouth, not had things drop right this term but is the class act here if it does. A wide draw and a less than committed ride perhaps brough defeat at Ascot but she can repay some faith here and should be favourite this morning in my opinion. Bolger is flying at home and Lucida has just needed a break to get a nose in front.
The handicap at 3.45 looks a minefield but Valley Of Fire has been a work in progress and I’ve been waiting for a return from Haggas’s charge who starts back here under regular pilot Atzeni. The mark might not be too unfair and whilst obviously taken time to come to hand for connections there is more to come and if straight for the reappearance could look a big price this afternoon. The other in the race of note for me is Burnt Sugar at silly prices under Tom Marquand who takes off a handy few pounds. This is a second run dropped in grade and on pieces of form from better company, including a length defeat in a G1 in France, looks like a potential rag that could oblige.
Similar tactics apply to the next big handicap on the card and I’ll throw a small punt the way of Mezzotint who is handiapped to score but running like still in need of a break from the perch. Hard to sum up but prior to the latest run I thought connections were back in business, now it’s harder to enthuse but the price allows a chance to be taken. The other is Charlie Fellowes inmate Accession who is back on track and the yard firing at present, the trip is the optimum and should run another big race, been dropped for consistent efforts and I think can eek a bit more out of the 6 year old in just this type of race. Overpriced and two darts which may come up at the finish in a tight race.
At York Lady Cecil gives Mighty Yar another crack at the Charity Cup Handicap and in a bid not doubt to go back for the Ebor, I think they can pick up today’s race after a solid prep run at Newmarket and last year’s second when sent off 5/2jf looks overpriced to go close under Tom Queally.
Away from these I do like Easton Angel very much but Illuminate is also very smart and looking forward to that contest with relish and without a wager.
Lots of top racing and hopefully a bit of luck around for the selections, good luck to you all.
