Today’s Info 12th October 2014
A little bit of luck with a nice big priced place in the Ces at Newmarket makes up for another second amongst the bets!
It’s Irish eyes for the Ces today at The Curragh and I’m looking forward to the day in the RacingFM studio.
The race itself is a corker and it may well be quick compensation for the Martin camp as Ted Veale has to be on the short list once again for a decent pot. Prepped well and will love the test ahead but the price is as appealing as Quick Jack’s was yesterday, so no bet to be had. I like Majenta who did best of the younger generation in this race last year and has been set up for a repeat crack and the services of Gary Halpin means the weight will be lightened sufficiently and in a race where a case is made for so many her’s is a strong as you are likely to find and the price is fair for a small bet.
In the other Irish card I have to chance Heaney once more for the National. Everything went wrong the last day when well fancied and the jockey reported it was just not a going day. If the animal is ok and Tom Taffe would not have left any stone unturned to find out if there was an actual issue then the price today is certainly incorrect. A well treated horse with more to come although the chance is of course taken that he will want to be there this afternoon.
On the flat two runner worth attention are Number One London and Weapon of Choice. For similar reasons too in that they will enjoy being at Goodwood and are slipping nicely into the attractive marks with which they can win. The races are below what they are capable off and with a bit of luck both will outrun their respective odds. I think Number One London can be hard to beat from a prominent ride and Weapon Of Choice is just the type to react well to blinkers and eradicate a tendency to start off slow!
Goodwood 2.00 – Number One London 0.75pt Win – 8/1 General
Goodwood 5.45 – Weapon Of Choice 0.75pt Win – 14/1 General
Curragh 4.20 – Majenta 0.75pt Win – 12/1 General, 14s and 16s with some firms
Limerick 5.10 – Heaney 0.75pt e/w – 20/1 Ladbrokes, Victor and Hills
