Today’s Info 13th March 2015 – Gold Cup Day Cheltenham!

Another string of placed horses and the windy road continues to take as many turn as it can before landing one on the line!!

Kick off with the Triumph Hurdle today and I think Peace & Co will win and hopefully win well. Not rocket science of course but he is priced fairly and is worth a small bet to get things underway. Beltor is the fly but I really think he will be better suited to Aintree and happy to leave him alone today although a cracking horse for beyond as plenty of them are.

Would naturally be delighted if Slippers could win the County as a co pilot on Talking Horses here on RacingFM but I do think McCoy has a lovely ride on Princely Conn. A ready winner in a Galway bumper and now with JP McManus he has solid form coming in here and should have more to offer.  Two others are Baltimore Rock, impressive last year and just one run to date before this he has to be on the list and so does a possible real improver in Commissioned for Ferguson and Geraghty. Good form behind likes of Activial and with a bit of spring in the air he could have lots in hand plus the blinkers have gone on again which is a plus.

I like four in the Albert Bartlett, No More Heroes could end up taking a Gold Cup in his career and looks a tailor made type for this so has to be on side. Value At Risk is still learning and when it clicks he will be a major force, it could be today and the price looks tempting.

At bigger prices I thought Fletchers Flyer and Definitly Red ran cracking races against each other last time and might be overlooked by the market now to figure, hardy and form in the book from good bumpers underlines the class they have and at the odds you’d do a lot worse than play them to fight it out once more.

The Gold Cup is wide open and the doubts over Conti were almost removed by the prices this morning and on a value basis getting him on side at 5s plus has the head ruling the heart. A third time lucky win in this race is very hard to see but his form this year has him there and would be great for Noel Fehily. I don’t think he will win and deciding what to take him on with is the decision here.

It’s about prices and the most overpriced is Smad Place this morning, solid World Hurdle form, run without a prep in the Hennessy and then improved for that here behind Many Clouds and I think the two of them are big players in the race. Having been talking about Many Clouds all year on here I hope some of you have nice ante post vouchers for this afternoon and I suggest a small play on Smad Place with the odds as they are. Keeping close to the pace will be key and that will be Wayne Hutchinson’s job to have him there pitching for the final circuit.

Many results would not surprise in the race and I can see Houblon Des Obeaux making a good fist of it from the front end and keeping them all honest but it will be a corker so good luck to all with your selections.

A small bet on Paint The Clouds in the Foxhunters will do and a race that is a great spectacle he looks ahead of them and has a super pilot. I thought he would be shorter on the day and may well be a proper punt as the race comes closer.

I think Jollys Cracked It is one of the better handicapped horses this week and am happy to play him in the Martin Pipe race for conditionals. Super run last time in the Betfair and if the rain had come in spacdes I’d have been very confident he’s run a massive race here but there has been some, the trip will help and he is overpriced. Roi Des Francs is very nice and rightly favourite whilst McKinley has a great jockey up and is also nicely treated considering Grade 1 and Grade 3 wins already.

An impossible closer perhaps and AP McCoy lifting Ned Buntline over the line would make for a scripted ending in Hollywood – fingers crossed for them but I am looking elsewhere. Next Sensation is the call, had that wind op that is becoming an essential it seems and loves to front run. Returned to form last time out and will be bidding to get it on from the front of course once again. Form over Gods Own and the run here last year have him solidly in the mix and the price is over the odds.

Have a great day and good luck to all – it’s been emotional!
