Today’s Info 15th November 2014

Good morning

Paddy Power Gold Cup and there are four I could back in the shape of Easter Meteor, Oscar Whisky, Buywise and Persian Snow. Of the three I think Buywise is the best chance of finding the winner and the market agrees. If he can jump better than he did at the Festival which was a bit of a horror round then he will be tough to beat and the prep run was almost too easy for him so he comes back to fences in rude health.

Persian Snow and Easter Meteor are more romantic plays, having been on both when denied at this course in recent times, the latter when running a monster race in this 12 months ago and backable at 50s that day! Easter Meteor is now with David Pipe and I wouldn’t be surprised if there wasn’t more to be unlocked with him and another bold effort is hopefully on the cards. Persian Snow will need to step up on a good run last time and looks a reasonable shout for the places but I do wonder if he has enough to come to win a contest like this.

Oscar Whisky is the class act but carries the weight for it but he could win off the mark when compared the best of his timber form, he perhaps will not reach those heights over fences although he doesn’t have to get that high to win this. If this is more than just a starting point then he is a very interesting contender. I am going to chance Easter Meteor hoping that Pipe has had his eyes on this since inheriting the horse and also Buywise who just looks a solid proposition in terms of profile and can jump a lot better than he did here last time.

Also on the card I like the shape of the 1.50pm Handicap Chase for a crack at Gevrey Chambertin who is a horse who wins or runs poorly. 6 wins from 12 starts and when he is right he is very good of course and I don’t think even with the chance that he chucks in the towel that he is a 20s shot for the contest. Strong stayer, Will handle the sticky ground and it’s fair, as it has been previously, to forgive him a poor spin.

The other in the race is Golden Chieftain who we have back last two starts, only getting as far as the first in the Badger Ales and has dropped to a nice mark, it could be a big day for Brendan Powell of course with Present View in the big one, I hope he enjoys this spin first.

Away from there I’ll be keeping an eye and possibly a wager on two Dartnell horses, Henry King over fences and Dancing Shadow who returns to the track apparently really well and could go places this term for the yard.

Advice –

1.50 – Golden Chieftain 0.75pt Win – 11/1 General

1.50 – Gevrey Chambertin 0.75pt Win – 20/1 BET365 and Stan James

2.30 – Buywise 0.75pt Win  – 13/2 Powers and Corals

2.30 – Easter Meteor 0.75pt Win – 12/1 General
