Today’s Info 17th April 2015

Busy day again on RacingFM with lots of action.

Ayr kicks off a good meeting of course and the handicap chase looks a minefield. Astracad and Tap Night would be obvious winners if returning to form but it’s all about prices and Firth of Clyde might be the value call. Ignore a run out of his ground at Cheltenham and the form is good, yard had a blip with Attaglance this week which is a worry but on best efforts I like their chances here. The trip is a possible negative but does get it and the race should be run to suit to track a good pace and finish with them. Worth an each way play.

At Newbury I’m keen to see Lord Ben Stack whom connections think a lot of and might surprise a few in the conditions event although an extra runner or threw would have me keener to get involved this afternoon. The sprint looks hot with last years winner Lucky Beggar set a similar task but Steps could be better again this year especially on decent ground today, lack of blinkers is perhaps worth noting and in general going to watch and learn more.

The stayers handicap is playable however and two darts on Arcamante and Dumbfounded look in order. The latter returned win a facile win on the All Weather and is jocked uo with Cam Hardie to continue progress here. With fitness on side and more to come I like the chances in such a contest and the price is worth saving on.

Arcamante is only four and has more to offer too at a trip with prominent riding, Martin Harley takes over and if fit to go on return looks on a decent perch for an in form yard. Nicely bred and improving slowly should be competitive with good placement and hopefully this is a sound starting point.

At Fontwell I am chancing one for Neil King and Trevor Whelan who do well with their string and Minnie Milan has been running a little below my expectations so far and is one that could take advantage soon for connections. The top of the market bar Harry Fry’s charge look beatable with some improvement and better ground and there is a bit of juice in the price. The form since handicapping needs to step up but this bumper winner is still lightly raced and might have a summer campaign worth keeping tabs on.

Advice –

Ayr 3.05 – Firth Of Clyde 0.75pt e/w – 14/1 General

Fontwell 3.15 – Minnie Milan 0.5pt e/w – 12/1 General

Newbury 5.00 – Dumbfounded 0.5pt Win – 6/1 General

Newbury 5.00 – Arcamante 0.5pt e/w – 12/1 General
