Today’s Info 17th December 2014
A decent day in store with Newbury and Ludlow holding competitive cards to mull over.
I like the chances of Valco De Touzaine on better ground that he has been on recently when he tackles seven rivals at Ludlow on the 1.20pm Handicap Chase. His comeback effort behind Parsnip Pete was very promising at Aintree despite reaching for further aids by connections as the hood went on. Ground was too soft last time but he has more to offer and this has the makings of a weak race where he can prove superior. If the rain can stay away or at least prove minimal then I expect improvement and he looks over priced to figure – playing each way if it stays the nice 8 runners is perfect.
Two small stabs at the 3m Handicap Chase on the card where I am not going to desert our last time out winner According To Trev, he has been hit by the handicapper but won on ground that was ideal and is entitled to be even better on a sounder surface. He will put up a bold bid once more.
The other is Grove Pride who is potentially chucked in off the current mark, dropped for a poor return to the track but Henry Daly’s horse was very well backed that day and can be excused. This race will suit, he acts on the track and may have just been forgotten about too quickly in the betting. More support this time would encourage but a split stakes with the form horse and the lurker is the way I am playing an open looking race.
Happy to watch Newbury without a wager looking at the early markets, some nice runners on course and if anything changes I will update the write up tomorrow.
Have a great day and good luck.
