Today’s Info 17th May 2014
Good luck to anyone attempting the Scoop today, surely it is won and it would be great if it wasn’t the syndicates that slice it up. Anyone want to set one up an join the enemy?!
The Lockinge of course is one to look forward too but not appealing as a punting race and I hope Olympic Glory kicks off his four year old campaign with a bang.
Today I’m backing the improving Collaboration for Andrew Balding again having been on him when beaten by Windshear last time out. He gets a lovely pull for that as they meet again in the London Gold Cup at 3.15 and Oisin Murphy will also assist with the burden of course still able to take 3lbs off. I felt the race at Sandown was gifted a little to Hannon’s horse and on this ground and with the pull I think Collaboration can reverse the form and is the one to beat in the field. Decent price to at least hit the frame with eight runners hopefully standing there ground.
I considered the usually unlucky Burano who goes for a drop in trip at 2.40pm but the price is tight enough and also Lord Aeryn off the top of the weights in the 4.00 at Thirsk but ultimately want a few points more on each before playing the odds.
Lady Kathleen should have done better in her career to date for Paul Webber that’s for sure but the yard haven’t always been in the best of nick when she has been asked to step up, plus she bumped into one or two along the way to perhaps give the benefit of the doubt to a few of her misdemeanors? I have some faith left and off her mark in a weak race at Uttoxeter this evening it may be the last time I can say that if she doesn’t get involved at the business end of the mares hurdle at 7.45pm.
Punchestown has a quiet meeting today in terms of a Saturday but Steps To Freedom and Art Of Logistics will be watched with interest, acts of god might be needed to stop me having a mug double on them despite the odds ( they owe me! ).
Newbury 3.15 – 0.75pt e/w Collaboration – 8/1 with most firms
Uttox 7.45 – 0.75pt Win – Lady Kathleen – 8/1 with most firms
