Today’s Info 17th September 2014

Good morning

It’s Kerry National day at Listowel which gets the motor running for the jumps season. It’s still very much summer ground though and we aren’t seeing the best of the winter animals on display yet, although this race makes exceptions.

Alderwood is the pick of McCoy and why not, he has given him some great spins and will be a nice ride but I can’t have him winning the race at the top of the weights today and his form since winning at the Festival beating Kid Cassidy ( allowing for some misfortune too ) is not appealing either.

Of the McManus runners I’d take Tap Night as the pick of them and Tom Scudamore now has the tricky prospect of getting this to jump properly. He has the ability to win this well off his mark, the booking is interesting as perhaps he has been able to put a bit of work into him to justify the trip over and the mount. That would make sense although I am only guessing it to be the case. At the prices off his mark he is on the list for support.

Regular readers of my column here and on Onthenoseinfo in the past will be well used to me talking about Heaney. Tom Taffe has a quirky character here, carries his head in a special way, especially pre race, but is very talented and has a couple of good pots in him with a bit of luck. Slippers Madden has the ride and anything closer to the pace than at Fairyhouse would work lovely here and the run at Punchestown was on tacky ground, this will suit him better here with a nice summer on the grass. He is well touted elsewhere but looks a very solid option for the contest.

On the same card I am backing Shadagann who found lumping a load of weight a little too much at the Curragh but ran a really nice race and can do better here under Shane Foley. I don’t think the trip will be any harm and has been paying for a run behind Trading Leather now for a long time, actually dropped another pound for the spin at the Curragh and is a nice e/w price.

Nice card at Sandown but no punts for me and so fingers crossed for a good day at Listowel!

Advice –

4.10 Listowel – Shadagann 0.75pt e/w – 9/1 General , 10s in places

4.40 Listowel – Heaney 1pt e/w – 11/1 Stan James / Betfair Sportsbook – 10s General

4.40 Listowel – Tap Night 0.5pt e/w – 16/1 General
