Today’s Info 19th April 2015

Three meetings today and would be good to add to yesterday’s tally of three winners from what was a busy day in terms of selections so nice when a few pop up!

The Curragh first and Geoffrey Chaucer looks overpriced to bounce back in a winnable race for Aidan O’Brien and if he does then he has Massinga to beat here. Dermot Weld’s runner won at Listed level last time out and arrives in good form but this is a proper test for her against what was always considered a top notch colt who is kept on the go after a disastorous three year old campaign. At the prices I have to have a nibble and with his juvenile efforts in mind he could be a little too good, let’s hope he still has it in him because then he is the one to beat.

Due Dilligence also looks a little overpriced for the same team when taking on a good raider in Sovereign Debt in the Gladness Stakes. Given his efforts last term I’d make him favorite despite the lay off and the step to 7f, the decent ground will help and I hope Joseph can try to make this simple and go from the front. He looks a fair price and is the class act in the field.

At Stratford in the 3.30 the Johnsons run The Last Bridge with Richard in the plate and the recent form has been encouraging plus they now add the pieces back on for this stamina test on decent ground. I think he is better on good ground and it helps him not to lose interest mid race, especially with the aids on. He is not a worldbeater or likely to improve much but should put it all in and will be in the mix if so, hopefully conditions will allow him to make a winning run and once again I’d like to see him prominent from the off.

I am not sure how Dardanella didn’t win for us last time up but this slight drop in trip and a weak enough field to take on makes him only more appealing as a winner in waiting. I was a little concerned that there was a wind issue perhaps but they are out and running within 4 weeks so hopefully just learnt all they need now to get her head in front.  A lovely mare with a big cruising speed and the quicker ground ideal. Short enough but playable.

Advice –

Stratford 3.30 – The Last Bridge 0.75pt e/w – 8/1 General

Wincanton 3.40 – Dardanella 0.75pt Win – 11/4 General

Curragh 3.50 – Due Dilligence 0.75pt Win – 4/1 General

Curragh 4.20 – Geoffrey Chaucer 0.75pt Win – 5/1 Stans and W Hill
