Today’s Info 20th June 2015 – Royal Ascot Day 5

Not much joy yesterday, Lucida perhaps one that got away after gifting leads to the two that battled to the line with her in the finish, Anthem Alexander flattered and collected place money whilst Warrior Of Light can also be regarded a little unfortunate not to get a bit closer but wasn’t a winner regardless and we move 2-2 in to day five of the battle with the layers…

No surprise I’m skipping the first race but Ayrad in the Wolferton will also not surprise regular readers. Won last time out for us and was value for more that day I just think the level is right and he is thriving now and he has lots more to offer still. Highly tried and not been the luckiest but this is a good spot for him and Frankie is a good booking for Varian. I’m surprised at the price on offer although realistic that Mahsoob is very exciting, I make Ayrad a big player and hopefully the ground will not be too quick for him and he can give a true showing.

The Aussie sprinter is supposedly the real deal and if so then Due Dilligence might be runner up again in the Diamond Jubilee but as with Ayrad you shouldn’t be afraid of one horse and I think Aidan’s charge will be prepped to the minute to go one better than last year. The form is there from that run twelve months ago and price is fair to repeat it, hopefully nods them on the line under a Ryan drive, the theme of the week continuing would suit well here!

Two darts in the Wokingham and one of them is Rivellino for Karl Burke who handled this race very well last year and has hopefully be teed up again to repeat that effort. Handles the ground, Has had no chance in two runs this season and lies up slightly better treated than last year, is overpriced and that helps in a minefield!

The second dart is Dinkum Diamond, a seriously consistent animal for Henry Candy, ran well in this a couple of years ago but doesn’t run poor races so the chances of getting a break in a handicap are slim but the jockey booking is a smart move and provides some respite and the yard are firing seriously well. Drawn low so we have one on each side and conditions will suit both choices, at the prices I’m happy to give the hardy 7 year old more chance than the layers and with some luck we’ll be involved on both sides of the charge.

Telescope and Wicklow Brave may well decide the day for the layers and punters as the rest is tricky.
