Today’s Info 23rd October 2015
Cheltenham is back and it could be a serious day for trainer John Ferguson who has live chances throughout the card.
The opener looks set to go that way although the price is nothing to shout about for the talented Penglai Pavillion, classy on the level and looks a proper player for the the hurdles division where conditions will come right now against some more traditional NH types.
I’ll steer clear of most of the card bar having the notebook out but Liberty One has claims better than the odds suggest at 5.05 and if delivering on promise shown to date and with conditions to suit for a good pilot he can last home and go close in the Amatuer riders Handicap Chase. Highly thought of, solid P2P form and under rules it’s what might still be in the tank now in a season where it will come together if not today then shortly this term.
In the finale I thought Mantou would be shorter, ran a stormer before running on empty over further behind Court Minstrel in a red hot contest last time he is set a nice task here. Travels well as you would expect but should have enough to kick on up the hill here over shorter and certainly has improvement to come at this level.
Boomerang Bob has been a let down for a while but Charlie Hills has found a race that might play to him this afternoon at Doncaster. It could be another dummy spit moment but best foot forward and a large field to tag into it’s a small e/w play off a competitive perch to deliver on hints of a return recently.
Doncaster 3.10 – Boomerang Bob 0.5pt e/w – 20/1 General
Cheltenham 5.05 – Liberty One 0.75pt e/w – 16/1 General
Cheltenham 5.40 – Mantou 0.75pt e/w – 14/1 General
