Today’s Info 23rd September 2014

A bust day with lots of racing but plenty of races purely do not appeal to the punting senses for me.

There are winners to be found but I’d expect more than a few races to throw up shock results or easy wins for the favourite so I’m only concentrating on one contest at Newcastle which goes to post at 4.20pm

The fav here has good claims after winning at Doncaster in the Legends race and lines up for just a sixth start in this country so no doubt Bob has more to offer off the current mark. The price is very tight though and I can see it drifting from the current prices on offer in what looks an open heat. A starting point for the race but not the end point in terms of finding a wager.

One runner behind him that day at Doncaster was Tiger Jim and I will be surprised if he doesn’t get closer or even finish in front of Bob today and at around 6/1 is a far better proposition from that line of form. Big Storm Coming loves this track on the evidence of two runs here and has to be thereabouts although could be four or five pounds to high now to notch a third win this afternoon.

A big run from Reposer wouldn’t shock the nation with Keiren Fallon booked but it’s too chancy to weigh in without some market positives perhaps to give you the nod so I think the best value in the race may well be Red Paladin.

The hood has made a big difference to the horse during a race this term and but for a couple of sluggish starts he’d have won a contest or two more for Kevin Ryan. The hood stays on and Martin Harley has the ride here, from his stall today it will not make much difference and to come from off the pace will be the way with him. I think both he and Tiger Jim will aim at them close home and hopefully Red Paladin at the bigger price will have too much in a finish. In good form and still room to work with in the handicap mark should he be consenting in the early part of the race he looks the call in an open heat.

Advice –

Newcastle 4.20 – Red Paladin 0.75pt Win – 10/1 General
