Today’s Info 24th April 2015

Another cracking day’s racing in the UK and Ireland and the attentions diverted for a moment from the last day of AP McCoy tomorrow to a very good card on the flat at Sandown.

The Gordon Richards will be hugely informative but shapes up about right in the market and Cannock Chase is very exciting for Sir Michael Stoute and will have a good race with Postponed, Tulius and Western Hymn. I’m also a big fan of Ayrad and I think he will step up a lot this term although this is a big ask for a first start and will tell us a lot.

Shifting Power is a little short for a bet in the next but does look very solid to confirm last years best efforts and is the type to be better with another summer on his back. At 9/4 I’ll let him run but I do think he will have the beating of the older rivals here.

For a wager on the card I do like Rotherwick who was improving last season and wrapped up his campaign with a win at Newmarket. He has to improve again but I think he will for age and looked a bit shell like at time last year and wasn’t the most straightforward of rides especially at the end of his races. There will be more to come and he is overpriced to figure on return. Obviously Jack Hobbs could be very decent indeed but I’m happy to go with the prices.

At Perth Victor Dartnall runs Ut Majeur Aulmes after a a break and if the better for it looks the one to beat at 2.40pm under Denis O’Regan. Caught the eye a few times in the early season and though the handicapper might have been kinder for a poor run at Sandown the conditions suit better today and a more positive ride looks in order.

In the big stayers chase Full Jack looks perched to return to winning ways under James Reveley. Just got caught out under waiting tactics last time out and possibly needed a bit more fitness given a short break. He has more to come over extreme tests and is on a nice mark whilst I think Grove Pride and Big Society will figure the concession of weight and a proper test may be there undoing. Bally Braes could provide the biggest danger off a featherweight but too needs to improve.

So a few of interest today and lots more to come over the busy weekend and then it’s Punchestown up to the Guineas meeting!

Advice –

Perth 2.40 – Ut Majuer Aulmes 0.75pt Win – 888, Victor and Coral

Perth 4.20 – Full Jack 0.75pt Win – 9/2 General

Sandown 4.45 – Rotherwick 0.5pt e/w – 14/1 General
