Today’s Info 24th June 2015

Good morning

Some cracking action at Carlisle today with the Bell and the consolation race seriously competitive.

In the consolation it would not be a surprise to see Jim Goldie take this again with Another For Joe under Fergal Lynch who seems to have been brought back ready to go once more on a perfect mark. The drying ground is ideal and this will suit much better than the last two outings at Hamilton where given wide trips and shaping best of them last time out. Double figures is fair for connections to pull this off again and well worth siding with.

The other dart is Gambino who is in good form and repeated improved form at Chester latest when starting poorly and finishing well from a bad draw, can still do better and Connor Beasley gets on great with him. The yard’s small string are firing and it’s hard to see Gambino not going close baring absolute tardiness at the start here. There will be a good pace on and he stays a bit further so expect a rattle towards the end and hopefully picks them up and stays there.

In the Bell I think the chances of Boonga Roogeta have merit at this trip and under a positive ride from Rosie Jessop. Comes in off a win on the sand and is on a handy mark still for best efforts. The six year old has a fair amount of ability and at this level may well be able to dominate or at least lay up very close with a good pace and prove strong at the end. Also I thought Border Bandit was overpriced to figure under solid jockey Ben Curtis who is booked up for Tracey Waggott. Prior to a run on soft at Ripon was coming in to a nice bit of form and should revel back under ideal conditions, it will take close to a career best but this is the type of test that makes that plausible and is a decent price to do that.

Still hard to believe Saigon City didn’t win for us at a nice price when wandering around at Ascot on seasonal return. Failed to back up that impression on his latest start and has a few questions to answer now for Luca Cumani at Salisbury this afternoon. Kevin Stott is back up, blinkers return and the mile will suit. If running straight then at the odds I’m prepared to see him duck the issue again with a small wager. Has more ability than shown so it will most likely be up to the 5 year old more than the race set up and Kevin’s job will be to settle and travel like at Ascot and bring him home well.

Good luck to all!
