Today’s Info 25th July 2014
Two bets today at Ascot for me and it’s a couple I have been keen on following who hopefully have ideal conditions to go to war with here.
Elidor loves Ascot and has been a little tripless recently, ran well behind Arab Spring at the Royal meeting and in May behind Gatewood when perhaps could have been even closer than he finished. When winning at the track last summer the trainer was keen to stress he already wanted two miles and was a proper stayer. The yard have been in good form and a few seconds are now turning into winners and I expect there may be more to come from Elidor and they have Richard Hughes to ensure no excuses. Maid In Rio is the one to fear of course with the weights advantage but I expect Elidor to go close and looks a safe each way play.
The other is Gabbiano in the finale, he has been an eyecatcher for a while especially last time and if getting a slightly more prominent spin from David Probert is certainly up to landing the 5.00pm contest. They will employ waiting tactics but hopefully not as delayed as the last day behind Shore Step. Goes well here and can hopefully repay a bit of faith.
There is a handy little chase at Uttoxeter off at 4.05pm and I can’t resist a small punt on City Line who if appreciating better ground on a fourth chase start is very much the one to beat against some basically average and exposed sorts. Paul Moloney is up and with a clear round the price looks generous.
Enjoy the racing.
