Today’s Info 25th July 2015
King George day at Ascot and its all about Golden Horn. Can he make it a perfect 6 from 6? Speculation this morning over whether John Gosden will let his stable star take his chance on the testing ground, with the trainer set to walk the track an hour before the race and make his decision. We all want to see him line up and lets hope he can continue to impress.
Punting wise it’s a tricky day but hopefully I can put you in the direction of a few winners. There is a big handicap in Michael Halford’s, Portage and maybe today can be the day. He’s rated 90 but I think he is far better than that. William Buick is booked for the ride in the mile handicap at Ascot today and I think he’s a cracking each way bet.
Group 2 action at York today with the Sky Bet York Stakes the feature event. I thought the bet in the race was Custom Cut. He’s run well on his three starts this season and although the six year old gives weight away to younger rivals I think he will be bang there. David O’Meara has transformed the gelding since he joined the yard in May of 2014 and he can get another win out of him today.
Another that caught my eye at York was Corona Borealis in the two mile handicap. Having only his second run for Michael Dodds, after switching from the Johnny Murtagh yard, he can make it two from two for his new trainer. An eye catching jockey booking is James Doyle and I’m hoping he can outstay rivals in the stamina test at York.
That’s it. Just the three on a tricky Saturday for me. Hopefully a few winners and hopefully we get to see another scintillatingperformance from Golden Horn in the King George.
