Today’s Info 25th May 2014

Good morning

Another second for the column with Shore Step yesterday, never really looked like actually winning but finding one too good is never much fun with double figure picks. By the time What About Carlo ran and the ground was churned anything can be excused and he just didn’t fire, I wouldn’t get carried away with assumptions about him or Bilimbi who were the two well fancied types. Bold Thady Quill was also second at a huge 25/1 and his turn was due so unlucky to miss out.

Kingman was impressive at The Curragh and credit to connections for running him and Gosden gave a similar nod to the track staff who gave the race the best chance of going ahead on the best ground possible. The fillies today will get no such luck and without Rizeena and my fancy for the race My Titania it is weakened of course. Lightning Thunder has the form in the book from the English version but I think Weld holds a strong hand with his pair and I wouldn’t be surprised to see one of them come out on top. James Boyle has highlighted Vote Often in his column on this website and I’ll side with that one too.

I will be playing a few pennies on Drifting Mist and Truthwillsetufree in the 4.30 but that is a minefield and trappy enough, you could run well and finish midfield with luck needed to figure. The case for both can be made with the former progressive last year and running in better races who has a touch of class about him to cope with different ground and should improve. The latter has conditions in favour with a handy claimer off the back of consistent efforts that merit shorter prices for the race. I think both can win a race like this during the season and small bets on both today with fair prices on offer.

Seebright and Popaflora appeal to some degree at Fontwell although the prices reflect there chances and not a lot of value floats about with the jumps at this time of year.

Curragh 4.30

Truthwillsetufree 0.75pt Win – 14/1 with most firms

Drifting Mist 0.75pt Win – 12/1 with most firms
