Today’s Info 25th October 2014

A seriously busy day for RacingFM with action all over the place and Kevin Walsh has the task of fitting it all in!

The RP Trophy at Doncaster might give us a few more clues to next years Classics but doesn’t look a betting race at all for me. Elm Park should win but lots of flesh nowhere near fully tested and we will see what happens.

The Aintree card is class and the opener sets a lovely tone for the day. Split them from the front of the market is really tough, Katgary could be ready to take a major step forward and of course Hawk High beat him at Cheltenham whilst Garde La Victoire is taking a shot over timber before chasing beckons. I would possibly just side with Hobb’s runner but it’s tight and should be a great race.

The Handicap Hurdle at 2.30pm is another teaser to solve but Lyvius could be one to take advantage of a drop in class for Henderson and Geraghty. Proved tricky last year at the Festivals, could have finished closer up at Cheltenham on softer ground and this trip on easier going should prove ideal this term. Back from a break but in the headgear for first run back is a positive and whilst I really like Kingsmere as a beast to follow he want more rain and few extra furlongs to show his best. If Lyvius is ready then I think the rest of these field will not pose a problem and he looks over priced.

The Old Roan really gets the senses flowing and cases to be made for many but one that looks a few points too big is Edgardo Sol on a first run for Emma Lavelle who’s runners are firing fresh already this term. Ran in this last year and then went hurdling but a little drop in mark and the new surroundings make plenty of appeal at the odds now. Loves Aintree and this is the ideal trip, too early to mark him out as exposed and lacking scope to improve, he is only seven and Lavelle has got a super new inmate for the yard this term. It’s all about the price and I’d rather play him with a few questions marks at the odds rather than take chances with the shorter priced market principles who have to give him weight today.

I’ll be throwing some change and maybe more at Hollow Tree in the 4.15 contest especially if any money is around for him on a second start for Ian Williams with Nico de Boinville booked for the spin. On a handy perch if they get him in the mood soon.

Lots of racing to enjoy but it will be a lot of watching rather than punting! Good luck with your selections and hopefully Side Glance will go well in Australia for any who have followed me in this week with a few quid.

Advice –

Aintree 2.30 – Lyvius 0.75pt Win – 8/1 General

Aintree 3.00 – Edgardo Sol 0.75pt Win – 14/1 Boyles, BET365, and Victor
