Today’s Info 26th August 2014
Nice to keep the show on the road yesterday with two winners albeit at tight enough prices and at soggy racecourses.
Similar today but a few to take a chance on and hopefully a bit of luck stays with us.
At Ripon I am going to chance the training skills of Brian Ellison who is going well and has brought plenty to the track from lay offs ready to run for their lives. Ty Gwr is a nice type picked up from the Simcock yard and did well back end of last term for the yard. Mikey Ennis, better known over the jumps, takes off 7lb which will help the cause and the race at 4.15pm looks a nice starting point. The five year old has only had three starts on turf, handles quick and soft ground and I have been waiting to have a go with him since last seen almost a year ago. The race is open enough and if Ellison has this one right he should be in the frame at least and hopefully straight enough to score.
At Sedgefield this evening you’d be keen to take on the Haslam runner on first start in England as the ex Charlie Swan Ever So Much does not look a stellar recruit despite McCoy up for the ride. Debt To Society is the one who interests at the prices, likes this course and is in form for Richard Ford who sends one to the meeting. The jockey gets on superbly with the seven year old and looks sure to get a good tune out of him again.
At Epsom a small bet on the overpriced Skytrain is in order but the ground is certainly an unknown, if not a flat out negative. Form this season when on a going day would win here and Dane O’Neill is a good booking but he might just not have this today. The price means worth a shout to get through it. Punting on the card is very tough in all the races with the rain of course.
Epsom 3.55 – Skytrain 0.5pt Win – 11/1 General
Epsom 4.15 – Ty Gwr 0.75pt Win – 9/1 General
Sedgefield 7.00 – Debt To Society 0.75pt Win – 3/1 General, 7/2 in places
