Today’s Info 26th December 2014

What a monster day ahead for us all!

RacingFM sponsor the opening maiden hurdle at Limerick so I will be there and really looking forward to it although I’m not going to try and pick the winner until I see them all in the paddock!

Gilgamboa will be one I am very much keen to eye up though and odds of 2s and bigger appeal as a very decent punt for those at the track and elsewhere, I actually hope I might get bigger and will wait and see but he is a cracker and they have made a good call to head here for the feature on the card.

I’ll try at the bottom to give you a couple at the meetings I’ve earmarked but it’s a minefield day isn’t it, just watching and keeping up a great achievement!

The King George at Kempton has the makings of a super race. Consistent ( well recently ) and markedly classy Silviniaco Conti against Champagne Fever and if they don’t perform Menorah and Al Ferof will snap away at the heels hoping to pick them up. I have to back Champagne Fever, something I have never done in the past as I always thought he would need a proper trip and have taken him on at shorter distances! Now he can prove me wrong again of course but I think he will be even better at 3m and a bit further. I was at his first win and I’ve been at his Cheltenham runs and he has always looked like a stayer but he has plenty of pace. Ideal for this and I think he will win well with a clear round. He has a lousy Christmas record, but that’s an odd reason to leave him go and I am on board at a price I am very surprised is available.

At Wetherby I’m going to chance Knock A Hand in the big chase at 1.45 but it’s a big ask after a blundering effort at Aintree but he has more to come and this will suit, as will the jockey booking. It’s not that strong a race and the fav is obviously tough to beat but he has to do it properly again and I expect this will be plenty tougher than his romp last time up.

At Wincanton it was tough to pick between Quick Decisson and Ut Majuer Aulmes but the latter appeals more on this class drop and after two eyecatching runs is surely the one to beat at a fair price. The Cheltenham run was very taking, tanking away until tiring and then still ran with more to offer in another tough race last time. Much simpler task and I expect him to win from Hobbs charge.

A Market Rasen then Chac Du Cadran looks the one bet on the card. Finally came back to winning ways after some awful form figures! I can’t resist him off the mark perhaps fulfilling some of the early staying potential, he could be well treated for a while if he stays in good form.

Way Up In The Air prepped well for the 2.20 at Leopardstown and the big mare has lots more to offer I hope over fences. Yard in great form and fairly priced at around 7’s to be involved in what looks a very winnable race on a rather difficult card.

Back at Kempton very much looking forward to Generous Ransom running again, he could be leniently treated for a good win and finally showing his best last time. Expect there to be more to come and a fair price for a crack at a stiffer test. There are doubts about a few in it and Noel Fehily has a cracking ride here.

The Novice Chase on the card is a cracker and we will learn a lot including that Warden Hill is very smart for the Channon team and seeing AP booked is interesting. Not sure why they are aiming so high here and if he doesn’t run well I will be having him very much in mind for a nice pot somewhere but I rate him very highly and at 20s plus have to have a small play.

Wincanton 1.05 – Ut Majeur Aulmes 0.75pt Win – 4/1 General

M Rasen 2.10 – Chac Du Cadran 0.75pt Win – 4/1 General

Leop 2.20 – Way Up In The Air 0.75pt Win – 7/1 General
