Today’s Info 26th September 2014

The Cambridgeshire is upon us shortly and a lovely warm up card at Newmarket today to wade through first.

The Silver Cambridgeshire looks nicely set up for Mange All to boost the record of three year olds in the contest. Lots to like about Haggas’ runner and along with GM Hopkins it could be the race to stick with the younger blood. That said one is overpriced by a fair way and that is Ty Gwr for Brian Ellison and Mikey Ennis who takes of a handy 7lbs.

The 5 year old has had awful problems with a pelvis injury but on two starts back has remained sound and was well supported last time without troubling the principles at Newbury. He will need to return to the sort of form that saw him dismiss a field at Leicester last October to take a hand here but he has lots of ability and off the mark with the claim is the most interesting runner away from the main betting hopes here. Brian Ellison charges have run well in this before and I hope they have targeted this race for him to peak for. At 40s and with the concessions on offer he looks a worthwhile dabble and hopefully will enjoy the test ahead.

There is certainly more to come from My Spirit who goes at 2.10pm on the same card. Haggas sent her pot hunting in France last time and she ran a lovely race to finish second, this is her right trip and the small but tough type can make the Cheveley Park pair work very hard this afternoon. Jordan Princess needs to step up a fair bit albeit in good nick and I think My Spirit will fight this out with Criteria and with the lighter raced and tough filly to come out on top under Joe Fanning.

Last bet on the card is the lightly raced and hopefully just clicking in to gear Ayrad for Roger Varian. I was impressed despite getting beat at Epsom on soft ground and I expect that we see a lot more this time on better ground and just a fifth start on the course. Windshear is the standout of course but keeps going to the well and is vulnerable today especially at the odds it is quite easy to go elsewhere looking for some value with 8 standing their ground. I’d be surprised if Ayrad is not competitive and hopefully he can go very close at rewarding odds.

Advice –

2.10 My Spirit – 0.75pt e/w – 6/1 General

3.45 Ayrad 0.75pt e/w – 12/1 BET365 and Lads

5.00 Ty Gwr 0.75pt e/w – 40/1 BET365 / Skybet with 5 places
