Today’s Info 27th December 2014

Well yesterday came and went without a bit of luck. Lots of places but a win only strategy doesn’t work well when that happens! I fairness Warden Hill finished last as well as second and a couple of the others placed but threatened only very briefly.

Today’s racing is superb once again and I’ve a few darts around so will be hopeful of something hitting the target.

In the Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown then Foxrock is the obvious starting point. Everything looks aimed here and they have a horse that can certainly win the race. He is priced with just enough juice in to keep on side but more as a saver for a second stab at what always is a corker of a contest.

I’m always stuck in a tricky place over Christmas racing when a few of the horses that have not come up to scratch are out at big prices and one such is Heaney. There is the added plus today of a certain Paul Carberry up top an as I have explained a few times with Heaney it’s that he is a tad quirky. A horse that perhaps should have gone very close in an Irish National and also runs well here, including this race last year, has a big one or two pots in him and is nicely overpriced at 33s.

Shangani runs today as well, just like Heaney, I’ve also given him a couple of chances this term. Up in trip ( perhaps a tad far now ) but worth sticking with to show his true form today and a small bet at reduced odds thanks to Pricewise and a non runner…

In the Welsh National I really do find it hard to see Shotgun Paddy not go very close.Perfect for the race and the run at Cheltenham still haunts many I’d say having hit almost every fence and still only get touched off. He is nicely treated even off the top of the weights and is the only one I want to be on. Delighted to see some 10s around this morning and with a clear round he takes all the beating today.

Advice –

Kemp 2.15 – Shangani 0.5pt Win – 7/1 General

Chepstow 2.35 – Shotgun Paddy 0.75pt e/w -10/1 SJames and W Hill, 9s General

Leop 2.55 – Heaney 0.75pt e/w – 33/1 General

Leop 2.55 – Foxrock 0.5pt Win – 11/2 General
