Today’s Info 28th August 2014

A nice winner yesterday and it was a good ride from Matthew Hopkins on a filly that has just worked it all out recently; the pair can win again if they find a similar race I would hope.

One bet today, lots of small fields about and whilst there are winners to be found whatever the races some look pretty unplayable for punters.

Big Baz is a dark horse, impressive when first seen for William Muir and landed the spoils on debut at Lingfield last winter. Won again on his next start and was clearly well thought of at home by the trainer from subsequent reports. What has happened since has not gone to plan but I wasn’t at all disappointed with him at Newmarket on either start and you can draw a line under one bad effort after that – he has since had a break.

The runs at Newmarket, would with a bit of luck in running here, be good enough in this level and if that is all he is up to then that’s fair enough but I think there is a fair chance he is a good bit better than an 80 handicapper. Such is his size and his late start to racing then the break was probably needed during the faster ground summer and if you read his early form correctly he could be able to put this to bed on route to a better race or two before the year is out.

Having said all that he could need the spin and I’ll get to write this all again sometime soon when he is out next time, but a horse to not lose faith in just yet I’d say.

Advice –
