Today’s Info 28th July 2015

Went close to a nice winner at Galway yesterday but Kate Harrington made sure Modem wasn’t getting beaten and a super ride from her was enough to deny us with Awesome Star. King Of Oriel threatened to go close but faded up the hill rather than finding up it and that happens at the Ballybrit more than most places.

Goodwood to add to the mix today for us all and a big week gets busier from here on in!

Respect to both McManus runners in the chase on the card this evening at Galway but Steps To Freedom is a classy type who can surely do better over fences and has been warmed up without looking stretched in recent flat runs. Second each time the impressive looking animal has tackled fences and at the prices today that wouldn’t be the worst result but he is better than shown and conditions have come right to figure in a very decent contest.

Two darts at the Topaz Mile and rightly Unsinkable is fancied dropped to the right trip and looks very solid so has to be on side at 6.50pm, the prices allow for a second dart though and Chopin is classy but slightly overlooked in the market for this feature this evening. Has run behind some of the best in the business in starts to date and this is the right trip for five year old now with Ger Lyons having started in Germany. If running up to his best from a good draw will go well for Seamie Heffernan.

At Goodwood I start double handed in the opener with a small bet on Mount Logan who is continuing to run so well but the softened ground is a concern this afternoon although that might be just what is needed for the talented Top Tug. Seems to have found quicker conditions against so far on return this season but can show a lot more now with some ease and is overpriced to run a big race for Sir Michael Stoute.

You have to forgive Battersea the run on return pitched where he was and Roger Varian will be hoping his colt can deliver on all of his promise in the 3.45pm which sees him tackle a suitable distance and I think there is a lot more to come. They have been patient enough and happy to have a crack at the odds that he comes good here. I am an Ajman Bridge fan but the conditions are not ideal and he continues to find one or two in front of him so probably one for the frame again.

Double Up and Toormore look solid on the card but too short to get properly involved and we are set for a huge day again.

2.00 Mount Logan 0.75pt Win – 9/1 General

2.00 Top Tug 0.75pt e/w – 10/1 General
