Today’s Info 29th May 2014

Good morning

Sandown have a cracking card this evening and with the withdrawal of Abseil from the 8.50pm it opens the race up nicely for a punt. The horse I am keen to side with is Tinghir for David Lanigan and Ted Durcan. Allowing him a run when well behind at Newbury in April is easy to do when you consider his preferences from last term and the progress shown during the season.

Connections have added cheek pieces and he gets his juice in the ground this evening. Solid form at Ascot in October and a similar effort at Newmarket following that, when not getting the breaks, mark him up well in this field. Looking at the profile he should be better at 4 years old and his mark can be improved on. At around 7/1 with some firms it looks a decent play on the night.

The two bigger races on the card are proper contests too, Brown Panther faces a stern test in the Henry II Stakes and is priced about right without looking big value to back up his Chester win. Some intrigue with Menorah running on the flat for Philip Hobbs and the likes of Camborne, Girolamo and Tiger Cliff in opposition will all be well fancied. High Jinx ran another of his snatch races at York over shorter and if James Doyle can persuade him to travel as well mid race as he does for the rest of the trip then he is player over further here. The Fanshawe runner was hammered for this last year and 8/1 appeals for a better showing now with two runs under his belt and he will act on this ground.

The Brigadier Gerard has lost Hilstar but the four remaining runners all had claims and will be a watching race for me rather than a punting one. Sharestan, formerly with John Oxx, is a beast I have always liked and I hope he can win under Keiren Fallon.

Best of luck

Advice –

Sandown 7.15 – High Jinx 0.75pt Win – 8/1 with most firms

Sandown 8.50 – Tinghir 0.75pt Win – 7/1 Stans, Betfred and Totesport
