Today’s Info 30th November 2014 – Update
It’s been a solid month and nearly a golden one as Houblon Des Obeaux was immense under top weight in the Hennessy but found one, a very good one indeed, too good on the day to finish second at 50/1 for followers of my column. Regular readers and indeed previous subscribers of mine will know I’ve put a few up at that kind of price in the past and it’s always great to see a rag priced horse give you a huge run for your bravery!
Fairyhouse today and the Drinmore has to be tackled. I was impressed with a few in this field so far and how could you not be with The Tullow Tank, Apache Stronghold, Real Steel and Valseur Lido all looking incredibly smart types. There is though, of course, some very nice horse flesh at silly prices in a race which if it turned up a different winner from 6 or 7 runnings you wouldn’t be shocked.
I think the Tank will be hard to beat, he loves the track, prepped well and is a very tough and progressive animal and I would be very happy for all concerned if he did win. The other who is potentially a little bit classier than other is Valseur Lido and the pick of Cooper also merits a position at the top of the market.
At the prices though I am going to take them on and it’s with Aerlite Supreme who’s price looks the most out of kilter. He was very good last time under Barry Geraghty who rides him again and I think there is plenty more to come. He was a fair hurdler, went down to Mister Hotelier, who won at the track yesterday, in his first chase start and fences are going to make a man of him. A soft sort in bumpers and to an extent over hurdles, fences and a real test in a better race will see him fair better. He is a small e/w punt in a race I just have to have a go at with the prices on offer. Can’t wait for it to start and hopefully Barry is canny on a horse who could surprise the bigger names.
Fairyhouse 2.05 – Aerlite Supreme 0.5pt e/w – 25/1 General, 28s in places
