Today’s Info 3rd January 2015

Not the most exciting day of 2015 you will come across with the meetings on offer today. It’s all to do with the Christmas and New Year burst of racing and now we have ones that haven’t bust a gut ( like us punters ) over the Festive period…

Sandown is a good card, the Tolworth is light on entries though isn’t it?! The three principles are all nice though and whilst L’Ami Serge is an exciting prospect not sure he merits being as tight a price in what will be an interestingly run affair. Jolly’s Cracked It would be my suggestion if you are punting, yard flying and he’s a decent price for one with good form and improving quickly. Nick Scholfield rode him last time and was very complimentary and suggested this race was made for him. A race perhaps not to punt in due to lack of runners but I hope he can win.

Balgarry has to appeal in the Handicap Hurdle having surely banished the freshness that saw him blast off in the Ladbroke at a suicidal pace. It was a fine sight but had no chance of maintaining it especially after such a lay off. He can do much better here and is a fair price to win a much less competitive affair.

Unioniste heads the market for a tough to solve Handicap at 3.35 but is too short to play and needs to bounce right back of course so I’d be happy to take him on still at the odds. What’s Happening is the suggestion as well handicapped and has improved for his starts this term, Paddy Brennan is up and with a better round of jumping he will be thereabouts at the death. Was decent in Ireland and although hasn’t been as good yet for the switch over the water is nicely treated for this at an ideal trip and slightly better ground expected to suit.

In the earlier and decidedly weaker Handicap Chase at 1.15 it might also be worth chancing the talented Fairy Rath who is slipping to a very competitive mark now for Nick Gifford and has the handy pilot Tom Cannon up this afternoon. Entitled to need the run on return and if all the better for it will go well here provided the ground rides on the decent side although he can handle cut.

At Cork I’m looking forward to seeing Sizing Coal, might not be a betting price for the value seekers but looks a much different proposition over fences than he was over hurdles and worth a mention if you haven’t seen him.

Have a good day and good luck
