Today’s Info 3rd May 2014

Two lifeless runs from the main selections yesterday although the money came for both of them. Over at Fontwell, Addiction was set to play a major role but could not negotiate the second last fence which put an end to her race. We might not get chance to take such a price about her next time.

Jessica Harrington’s week got even better with another trio of winners and this time Robbie Power was in on the act with two super rides aboard Operating and Burn And Turn, both really enjoying the spring like ground and of course Jezki upheld Cheltenham form in some style over Hurricane Fly. Delighted for all at the yard even if I let them go unbacked….

It’s 2000 Guineas day and it’s tough to wade in with anything against Kingman, ultra impressive winning last time and Gosden couldn’t be more enthusiastic about the beast. It will be great to see a rise of superstar and I am looking forward to seeing him. No price for betting purposes though and a classy Australia, hardy Toormore and a rather forgotten War Command all add spice to the race among a host of smart types. It looks a really good Guineas.

I’m going to have a crack at the exciting Big Baz in the opener on the card. This huge animal will be winning plenty more races for sure and might have arrived three from three but for positional issues last time. Can eat up the ground and should be all the better for turf now and I’m really looking forward to seeing him here,

I considered Amulet and The Confessor at Goodwood and may play them with a view to laying in running given their styles which will set up such trade nicely. Both should go close enough to make that worthwhile.

At Punchestown I’m delighted to see Barry Geraghty take over on Heaney following a run from too far out of his ground in the Irish National. Nothing finished as well as him that day having given the field a start with a very quiet ride until it was all too late. This is a bit shorter and ridden closer to the pace he will take some stopping if the Fairyhouse run hasn’t left a mark. Fingers crossed Barry can get him at it early and he will stay really well and enjoy the ground.

It’s another excellent card there and I am also playing Adriana Des Mottes for Mullins and Townend in the Grade 1 Four Year Old Hurdle. Really liked her for the Triumph but of course got no luck and she backed up previous promise with a facile win since. Could be overlooked here and worth playing e/w with confidence high.

Willie only has nine runners in the mad looking hurdle at 5.30, I’d love to find the winner of that and will probably throw a small few darts at it. Un Temps Pour Tout and Thomas Edison will be on the list but it’s a real mission impossible so good luck.

So three main bets and a few interests elsewhere, plus it’s Annie Power and Kingman at the top of the watching list and a huge day ahead. Good luck, could use some here!

Advice –

Newmarket 2.05 – Big Baz 1pt Win – 10/1 with most firms

Punchestown 4.20 – Adriana Des Mottes 0.5pt e/w – 11/1 Stans, Tote and Betfred 3 places and 1/5 odds

Punchestown 4.55 – Heaney 1pt Win – 7/1 with most firms
